“When you have confidence, you can do anything.”
– Sloane Stevens
Everyone wants to have confidence, but few have managed to develop it in all facets. Self-confidence is not built or forged immediately. It takes years of hard work and practice before one can have an unflinching level of confidence in one’s ability to do things, not just do things but doing it right.
The good news is that it is not genetic, and you don’t have to rely on others to become confident in your ability. All it would take to become self-confident and a respected individual in your gatherings is by taking actions that improve your competence and years of patience practice. Below are some tips to boost your self-confidence
Stop Comparisons: You need to recognize that you are unique. It would be best if you also realized that you never get the full story and that everyone puts it forward to disguise their lack of confidence. When you compare yourself to others, you compare yourself to the facade others present to the world.
Repetition: Repetition is not only for failures. Many people dread the word “REPEAT” because, to them, and it means that they failed previously. This is where self-confidence as skills come in. Each time you repeat something; is not because the previous procedure was a failure but because of honing your skill or ability.
Persistence: Persistence is also another essential tool for building self-esteem. People persist when the current situation conditions are unfavourable or when previous attempts to achieve a goal have been futile. They keep trying until they reach a point where they no longer fear the possibility of failure or see the aftermath of failure as being doomed.
Play to Your Strength: People with low self-esteem and confidence often feel too bad about the weaknesses that they forget to celebrate and utilize their strengths. People forget that some gifts or talents come naturally for some people, and getting excellent results from them in that field requires little effort compared to other people who have to practice all the time. Identify those skills and develop them for you to be a master or a professional in them.
Be Prepared: It is impossible to seamlessly perform a task or ace an exam or test without you preparing very well for it. Your level of preparation for the task determines the confidence you would go in with for the task. If you prepare shabbily for a task, the most likely result would be performing very poorly in that role, which would shoot down your level of confidence.
